While organizing a stage of the European Autocross Championship, it became clear that the sports awards available in Latvia did not meet European standards.
On the journey back from Germany, the idea of starting an awards business was born.
With a loan of 300 LVL, the first shipment of trophies was purchased in Finland.
The entire shipment sold out within two weeks, confirming there was strong demand.
The awards were stored in the family garage, which was heated during winter to protect the metal trophies from rusting.
The first customers were welcomed there, while the growing inventory was even guarded through overnight watch shifts.
As the business expanded, the warehouse moved into the children's bedroom, while the home's library became the office.
As it became clear the business was here to stay, an extension was built to create dedicated office and warehouse space.
A new office opens in Riga, expanding GEKA's presence in the capital.
GEKA acquires a production facility in Bauska, bringing printing and engraving under one roof.
Warehousing, production, and office space now cover more than 1,200 m².
GEKA creates its own brand Pins2You — personalised badges and pins.
With the launch of its own brands PINS2YOU and, a year later, 3DPRINTAWARD, GEKA begins exhibiting at international trade fairs.
